The highly anticipated concert in Nairobi by celebrated South African duo MFR Souls that was originally set for March 13 has been postponed after one of the artistes tested positive for COVID-19.The dance group comprises of disc jockey and producers Tumelo' Maero' Nedondwe and Tumelo' Force' Mabe.

“Ladies and Gents, it is with deep sadness that we are forced to announce MFR Souls are unable to fly to Kenya for our show this weekend. One of the duo has returned a positive covid result when doing the pre-flight covid test. Currently the other member is negative, however since they perform together and have been in close proximity with each other, we cannot in good conscience proceed with just one of the two,” wrote one of the event organizers.

The event was expected to take place this weekend at the Carnivore grounds and feature renowned music personalities including DJ and producer One Down, his Aduma Kenya business partner Kori K, Kenyan musician and vocalist Idd Aziz and local house music instrumentalist Moseh The Drummer. Tickets were going for Sh1,500 for early birds.

The “Amanikiniki” hit-makers have been making strides in their music career since breaking out with their hit single Love You Tonight in 2019.

The duo are recognized as one of the originators of the amapiano genre of South African house music, and are known for hits like Love You Tonight, Lalela and Amanikiniki.

“MFR Souls, the music duo who keeps a low profile while they build a solid catalogues of beautifully engineered numbers to amplify any set, have only recently liberated their first full body of work. Their single Love You Tonight, which features DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, as well as the lush vocals of Sha Sha, has been lauded by music lovers as one of the year's most rocking delights,”

While the organizers of the Amanikiniki show did to specify who among the duo tested COVID-19 positive, they wished the artiste a quick recovery and said that more information would follow as soon as possible.

“The risk to our dear fans who would be attending the event, the organizing teams from hospitality partners to media partners and even to the passengers on the flights, is far too great to take a chance. We sincerely apologise for any inconveniences caused,”

The duo also took to their official Instagram handle to break the news to their fans.

“It is with deep regret to announce that we will no longer be travelling to Kenya due to very sensitive unforeseen circumstances. We would like to personally apologize to our Kenyan fans who were super ready to party with us. Our deepest apologies, we promise to make it up to our Kenyan supporters,” a statement by the pair reads in part.
