Frustrated gospel artist Ringtone Apoko has decided that he will not take peanuts after the back-breaking efforts he puts into his music.
Taking to his Instagram account, the Zoea Mawe hitmaker has threatened to quit gospel music if his newly released song, dubbed Backslide featuring Martha Mwaipaja, does not hit 1 million views in a week.
He posted a video warning his fans that he will no longer continue with the music journey if they are unwilling to support him. He accompanied this video with a caption that read.
'AM SPEND 1 MILLION SHILLINGS ON THIS NEW SONG WITH MARTHA MWAIPAJA 👌👌IF ITS NOT GET 1 MILLION VIEWS WITHIN 1 WEEK AM STOP MUSIC BUT REMAINS CHRISTIAN🙏🙏 IT'S UP TO YOU PEOPLE LINK ON MY BIO #BACKSLIDE.'
Ringtone's sentiments came days after he released his song, but he was disappointed with reception, following the fact that the song was struggling to get views on YouTube.
The self-proclaimed chairman of the Gospel industry criticized Kenyans for not giving him the support he needed as an artist. He further stated that it was hard to make music in Kenya due to this exact reason.
SINGING GOSPEL MUSIC IN KENYA IS THE HARD JOB BCOS CHRISTIANS ARE REFUSE TO LISTEN OR SUPPORT TO GOSPEL MUSIC. JESUS IS SEE U ALL 🙏 🙌
It seems like his threats on quitting music have fallen into deaf ears, with many mocking at laughing at him, stating that he should consider buying views to reach his target.
Ringtone's threat comes barely a month after he promised to quit gospel music yet again if God failed to deliver a BMW i8 machine worth $4.5 million.
" IF GOD IS NOT GIVE THIS BMW i8 AFTER MY 40 DAYS OF PRAY N FAST AM QUIT GOSPEL MUSIC I CANT SERVE A GOD WHO ISN'T ANSWER MY PRAYINGS 🙏🙏🙏🙏(AND IS MUST BE YELLOW). His post read.
