Family and friends gathered in Malibu to bid goodbye to Chadwick Boseman known to many as the "King of Wakanda."

The Black Panther star was just 43 when he died following a four year battle against colon cancer which he kept secret from his co-stars and fans. Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, and Winston Duke were among those joining the actor's family at a private ceremony in Malibu, California, over the weekend.

Chadwick's wife, singer Taylor Simone Ledward, was also at the ceremony which took place outdoors in glorious sunshine. Details of the memorial ceremony had been reported to include a table display featuring a photograph of the late actor. Flowers were also said to be arranged around tables at the memorial site which was overlooking the ocean.

The sad news left the entertainment world in shock on 28 August when his family released a statement via his social media accounts in which it was revealed he had lost a long battle against ill health. The statement revealed;

"Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage IV.

A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy."

"Rest in Peace King."
