A section of Kenyans has taken to Twitter to rant about the directorate by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on prohibiting marriage between servicemen.
Fred Matiang'i on Friday revealed the news, leaving Kenyans and mostly those working as police officers dumbfound.
The CS was speaking at the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo, where he floated the policy as a remedy for rising murders among married police officers.
"We will have a system like the Kenya Defence Forces which prohibits soldiers from getting into intimate relationships with colleagues. Moving forward, it will be illegal for a police officer to date or get married to a fellow officer," CS Matiang'i.
The order was received with outrage among Kenyans, the majority of them accusing the CS of overstepping.
Some of the comments included;
This is nonsense. Allow people to mingle freely in the age, gender and profession of their choice..

An alternative solution should be brought in.
Marriage is one of the unconditional rights in the constitution ,and limiting it to one is kind of infringing someone's right.

I think Matiang'i is right because police force is a very crucial department and when love matters come in for sure there will be underperformance leave alone killing each other.
I beg to differ, this officers you can't understand them if you're not one them(mkenya wa kawaida) kila wakati n kuamrisha , ju bado ile ubaya ya kazini bado wako nayo, ata sijaiona ofisa romantic for real
