Britney Spears has apologized to her fans for "pretending like I've been OK", while suffering under what she calls an "abusive" conservatorship. Britney confessed in court on Wednesday that she wants the conservatorship which controls her personal life and finances to end after 13 years.
The musician stated that she had been denied the right to have more children, and put on the psychiatric drug lithium against her wishes.
In 2008, Britney Spears' dad Jamie Spears was granted control over her affairs by court order. The order was granted after the star was put in hospital amid concerns over her mental health.
Speaking on Wednesday ,the pop star said she was traumatized and cried every day.
"I just want my life back," she said.
"I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated."
"I deserve to have a life, I've worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break."Spears told the court in an emotional 20-minute address by video link.
The mother of two, stated she wanted to marry her boyfriend and have another baby, but the conservatorship would not allow her to thus accusing her conservator of stopping her from having a contraceptive intrauterine device (IUD) removed so she could get pregnant.
Spears also said she had been put on the drug lithium a drug for bipolar disorder against her wishes, and that it had made her feel drunk and unable to converse.
"This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good," she said.
"I'm not happy, I can't sleep. I'm so angry and I cry every day."
On Instagram, the mother of two said she had not spoken out before due to "pride".
"I'm bringing this to people's attention because I don't want people to think my life is perfect because it's definitely not at all, and if you have read anything about me in the news this week... you obviously really know now it's not," she said.
Spears apologized to fans for hiding the truth from them, adding: "I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me... but honestly who doesn't want to capture there [sic] Instagram in a fun light!"
