Security officials in Rachuonyo East Sub-county have arrested 36 teenagers who were found consuming alcohol and allegedly engaging in sex during a party. Between ages 12 and 17, the minors were detained at Koweo village in Kojwach Kawere Sub-location at about 11 pm on Saturday.

Police records indicate the minors were found inside a house at a homestead in the village. The house belongs to a man who hired some minors to take care of it in his absence. The minors were playing loud music, which attracted the attention of neighbours. In the summon of police officers, most teenagers tried to escape by jumping over the fence, but only four managed to escape. The remaining 36 comprising 26 boys and eight girls, were arrested.

Ondoro stated that the arrest came after he received a tip-off from the public.

"Someone I cannot reveal informed me of the minors' plans. I invited my colleague before we mobilised our team that surrounded the building to get hold of all the teenagers," Ondoro said.

He said they managed to subdue those who were trying to escape after being arrested.

The administrators handed over the minors to the police at Ringa Police Post.

The administrators confiscated two packets of unused condoms, two motorcycles used by some teenagers, bottles of alcohol, and a music system.

The administrator told parents to take care of their children to avoid being involved in illegal activities.

"Let parents monitor the conduct of their children so that they can guide them to avoid being in conflict with the law," stated Ondoro.
