Celebrated actress Taraji P. Henson has yet another project on the way. This time she'll be taking on yet another classic role that has spanned over generations.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Taraji will fulfil the role of Miss Hannigan in NBC's holiday musical "Annie Live."

Those familiar with the musical know that Miss Hannigan runs the orphanage where Annie and the other little orphans live. At the moment, the role of Annie has not been cast. However, the show's producers will be launching a nationwide virtual search to find their Annie.

The role was originally fulfilled by Dorothy Loudon in the original Broadway show back in 1977. Carol Burnett then played a role in the 1982 film, and Kathy Bates took on ABC's 1999 rendition of the musical.

Cameron Diaz tapped into the role in the 2014 film, which also starred Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx.

"Annie Live," is scheduled to air later this year. This will be NBC's first musical since "Jesus Christ Superstar Live," in 2018.

Many fans have been here for Taraji P. Henson, fulfilling the role of Miss Hannigan after she famously took on the part of Cookie Lyon on Fox's "Empire "for six seasons.
