The Women in Film awards annual event saw 18 phenomenal women in the film industry awarded for their contribution and role in the film making. This second edition incorporated more categories, including the 'Best Assistant Director' category.
Among the guests, the likes of Ms Nadia Ahmed Abdalla, the Chief Administrative Secretary for ICT, Innovation and Youth, was present . Dr Mercy Mwangangi, Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Health, was present too.
CAS Nadia Abdalla pointed out that ,
"As women it is very important that we be unapologetic about who we are, about what we can bring to the table, and about what makes us who we are." Abdalla urged women not to shy away from acknowledging their strength and abilities even though societal norms tend to shrink the woman and added that it is essential for women to support male counterparts.
The women in film awards had competition in various positions: the Best Tv Drama, Best Director, and many more.
The winners of various awards included the likes of actress Sarah Hassan, Tv anchor and producer Lulu Hassan, actress Yasmin Said, and Judy Kibinge bagging Best Newcomer's awards Producer, Best Producer Tv Drama, Best Actress Tv Drama and Most Influential women personality.
