The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker launched the luxury fashion line in 2019 with LVMH. However, after two years, they’ve made the joint decision to close down the clothing business to focus on the singer’s lucrative Fenty Beauty cosmetics and Savage x Fenty lingerie lines.
The move, confirmed by LVMH, comes nearly two years after the fashion conglomerate announced the collaboration with the pop artist and business mogul. Rihanna became the first black woman to head a luxury house with LVMH, which owns such labels as Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton.
A statement by LVMH stated;
“Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the RTW activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions.” LVMH said that the Paris-based company and Rihanna will focus their efforts on the growth and long-term development of Fenty on cosmetics, skincare, and lingerie.
Despite one venture coming to a halt, Rihanna has her hands full with her other multibillion-dollar businesses, including Fenty Beauty Savage X Fenty and her highly anticipated ninth album.
Recently, Savage X Fenty announced its lingerie brand completed a $115 million fundraising round to expand into retail and further invest in customer acquisition.
