Mlango Kubwa MCA Patricia Mutheu on Tuesday 28, July 2020 was roughed up by Kenyan Police officers they beat her up and injured her during the City Hall scuffle.
It all started when a section of MCAs stormed the City Hall and wanted to serve Speaker Beatrice Elachi with an impeachment letter that had been signed by 59 members.
To disperse the crowd, the police lobbed teargas at the lawmakers leaving Mutheu injured.
However, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Tuesday, July 28, issued a statement regarding the violence towards the Mlango Kubwa MCA DPP Haji stated: he had consulted with the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, and that investigations were at an advanced stage;
“According to Article 157 (4) of the constitution, I have directed the IPOA and DCI through the IG to have the matter expedited and the resultant files forwarded to my office for appropriate action.”
During the entire scuffle, Elachi had locked herself in her office, and officers barred the MCAs from accessing it.
