KTN News staff is mourning the sudden death of their colleague and friend who died in a tragic road accident on Saturday, September 26. Edwin Audi passed away aged 42 years; he was KTN News director.
The accident occurred along Kajiado-Namanga road and involved three vehicles, two lorries and a Toyota Probox. Confirming the incident, Kajiado Central Police boss Daudi Loronyokwe disclosed that the accident claimed two lives.
Reports indicate that the Probox was attempting to overtake a lorry when it rammed an oncoming truck loaded with timber;
"The Probox was coming from Kajiado heading to Namanga General. It happened that the said motor vehicle tried to overtake a trailer. The driver of the Probox tried to avoid hitting the trailer which was ferrying timber to Kajiado.
"The Probox hit the front side of the trailer prompting it to veer off the road before landing in a ditch. As a result, one of the four passengers (Audi) died on the spot."
The driver from the trailer also died on the spot. The rest of the passengers were rushed to Kajiado Referral Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
Audi's colleagues were left heartbroken and had this to say;
"Edwin Daudi why? My heart is (broken). One of Kenya's greatest news directors, very talented, thorough, professional, all the assignments we've gone for was full of fun; your news directing was top notch. I will surely miss you, my friend and colleague, RIP my brother. It is well until we meet again. May God comfort your family," mourned KTN News anchor Zubeida Kananu.
"I don't know what to say. You were one friendly news director, very calm under pressure, and equally relaxed away from work. Shine on your way, brother. Till we meet again," stated news reporter Mark Namaswa.
From the PPP Family May Audi Rest in Peace,and may his Family find peace!
