American writer and producer Issa Rae is the newest superhero in town. The young lady is set to voice Jessica Drew, better known as Spider-woman, in the sequel to Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse.

The Spider-Woman sequel is set to debut in October 2022, with Shameik Moore returning as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy.

In the past, Issa had her reservations about joining a superhero franchise because they were "over-saturating the character" however she is a huge fan and described it as a "dream come true."

The Spider-verse details are still under wraps; however, Rae is currently filming the fifth and last season of Insecure, and she recently vowed to never star in any of her productions again. The 36-year-old is an executive producer on Robin Thede's second season of A Black Lady Sketch Show.
