Singer Beryl Owano is back after a one-year break from the music industry. Beryl has been working on new music; she had released her single 'Fire Emoji' which is a great comeback hit.
In a statement she said; "The song is a celebration of being a woman who is in charge. It captures a combination of explosive beats, catchy looks and dope writing,"
This song is off her upcoming debut EP 'Omukhana Msanii'. Her drive, coupled with her compelling vocals, won her the 'Female Artiste of the Year' in the Kisumu Teeniez Awards in 2017.
In an interview, Beryl opened up about her journey; "I was the youngest member in our school choir,I started quite early as it runs in the family. My dad is a musician too."
She added; "When I came to Nairobi from home things were not easy, I had to walk long distances just to go to the studio and to the point I could even wash dishes just in order to get studio time. Not forgetting that I worked with a Congolese band as a backup singer!"
Later on, things smoothed up for Berly, and after battling depression in 2018, she bounced back and landed a nomination for the Best Breakthrough Video for her song 'Utafilisika'.
Now, this is her year. 2021 will be a good one! Keep Winning Beryl.
